New Walk Friendly Communities Announced

Walk Friendly Ontario, a program of Canada Walks, has announced that WALK Friendly Community designations have been awarded to the City of Mississauga (silver), the Town of Pelham (bronze) and the Town of Minto (bronze), in recognition of their progress towards walkability.

The awards were given on December 3rd at ACT Canada’s Sustainable Mobility and Healthy Communities Summit where more than 200 Transportation Demand Management professionals from across the country gathered in Markham, Ontario to talk about integrated transportation solutions that support healthy communities.

Profiles of previously designated communities and applications for communities that wish to apply are listed on the WALK Friendly website.

TCAT Director Nancy Smith Lea was pleased to be part of the review team that judged the applications.
