TCAT is very pleased to welcome Alex Hanes and Owen Chiu to the team!
Alex Hanes is a planning graduate student at Toronto Metropolitan University, and a current summer intern at TCAT. Alex’s lifelong passion for cycling and transportation are his primary motivations as a planner, and he seeks to build a world where clean and healthy transportation options are accessible for all. Having worked as a bike courier for several years and experienced his fair share of near misses, Alex is interested in creating safer infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians.
Owen Chiu is a summer intern at TCAT, working on a research project analyzing the equity of traffic collisions in Toronto. Before joining TCAT, he was a research assistant with Mobilizing Justice, where he learned of the various transportation inequities in Canadian cities and acquired a taste for addressing these through data science and analysis techniques. Owen is graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Economics. In his free time, you can find him playing soccer, wandering around the city or reading about math and economics.
