In September 2013, TCAT and the Toronto Cycling Think and Do Tank at the University of Toronto commissioned a Ryerson University Graduate Planning Studio class to analyze the potential for enhancing active transportation infrastructure in the Black Creek neighbourhood.
An inner ring suburb of Toronto, the Black Creek neighbourhood presents unique challenges for walking and cycling. The team aimed to provide principles and interventions that could be applied to other inner suburban neighbourhoods.
The team developed a strategic active transportation plan for the Black Creek neighbourhood and created a template for active transportation planning in inner suburban communities.
