Bikes as a public good: What is the future of public bike sharing in Toronto? | December 2008

This report summarizes discussion at the Bikes as a Public Good: What is the future of public bike sharing in Toronto? community forum and stakeholder roundtable held in Toronto in September 2008. The aim of the two-day event, hosted by TCAT in partnership with the Community Bicycle Network, was to share examples of different types of bicycle sharing models, to discuss what a program in Toronto could look like, and to help inform Toronto City Council who were considering launching their own bikeshare program and had identified the need for a best practice review of programs in other jurisdictions. Bike Share Toronto was subsequently launched in 2011.
