In 2010, the City of Toronto installed Sharrows on College Street and conducted an evaluation to document before and after conditions. This research project was completed in partnership with the TCAT; we participated in the study design and data analysis, and provided support in soliciting survey staff and participants. This report includes:
- an overview of the College Street context and design
- an outline of the methods used for video analysis and the survey of cyclists
- presentation and discussion of results, with a focus on gauging the effectiveness of the design and cyclists’ attitudes towards the new sharrow applications
- recommendations for the future application of sharrows on City streets.
