Kara (she/her) is completing her masters of Urban Geography at McGill University, where she is studying how Canadian cities responded to COVID-19 with street reallocations. She also holds a double honours degree in Community Design and Sustainability from Dalhousie University. Her curiosity for urban design and active mobility have taken her around the world, and she has cycled through Scandinavia, the Baltic countries, Germany, the Netherlands, Bogotá, Nova Scotia, and Québec.
When she’s not researching city design or mobility justice, she’s advocating for accessible community bike spaces. Kara is a volunteer at Santrovélo – a community bike shop in Montréal – and enjoys helping coordinate the shop, as well as getting her hands dirty. She helps run the WTF – Women, Trans*, Femme – sessions and believes that bicycles should be accessible to all.
