A new group in Toronto is ready to make change happen. Recently formed with the support of several organizations, including TCAT, Friends and Families for Safe Streets is made up of individuals who have all been affected by traffic collisions, either through a family member or friend, or by being a victim themselves. The members initially focused on establishing monthly peer support meetings. With those successfully underway, they are now turning their attention to calling for policy changes to end traffic violence in Toronto. Their goals include improved street design, improved safety enforcement, and a re-defining of traffic culture in Toronto to recognize that fatalities and injuries from collisions are preventable.
The first advocacy meeting will take place on Jan. 24th @ 6 pm. RSVP required through Eventbrite.
