FAQ: Bloor Bike Lane Pilot Economic Impact Study

May 18, 2017

Cyclists, cars and public transit on College Street in Toronto

Since 2015, TCAT has been leading a research study looking at the economic impacts of removing on-street parking to install a pilot bike lane on Bloor Street West in Toronto. Together with our research partners at the University of Toronto, we are exploring whether there is any change in travel patterns, economic activity, and attitudes for both merchants and visitors to Bloor Street.

The study is nearing completion. There were three data collection time periods: fall 2015, fall 2016, and spring 2017. This summer, U of T researchers will analyze the data and then we will write up the results. A public report will be released in October 2017 that will be made available on TCAT’s website.

In the meantime, since our research study has generated a lot of interest, we compiled a list of questions we are asked, and put them together into this FAQ.
