Get Involved: Provincial Policy Statement Five Year Review – Sep 22

The Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) “provides direction on matters of provincial interest related to land use planning and development.” All decisions – including municipal plans – must be consistent with the PPS, so it can potentially have a big impact on what happens in your community.

In accordance with the requirement that the PPS be reviewed every five years, the government is currently seeking public comment for its five-year review. The comment period was recently extended until October 29, 2010. More information can also be found on the Environmental Bill of Rights Environmental Registry.

Ecojustice, SHIFT and Pembina Institute are preparing an active transportation submission for the Five-Year Review of the Provincial Policy Statement and are holding a meeting and webinar.

Find out how the review will work, how you can get involved, and what’s at stake.

The focus of the meeting will be to articulate and discuss specific changes to the policy that would help achieve more sustainable transportation, including active transportation options, in Ontario.

Attend in person or participate in the webinar!
