24 more Canadian municipalities commit to Complete Streets!

August 17, 2017

Since 2012, TCAT has been tracking the development of Complete Streets in Canada. We are encouraged to see the continual growth of these policies and guidelines being adopted across the country.

Over the past month alone we have added 24 new municipalities to our Complete Streets for Canada map (19 in Ontario, 3 in Québec, 1 in New Brunswick, and 1 in Newfoundland and Labrador). Canadian Complete Streets policies typically are included in Official Plans, Transportation Master Plans, Streetscape Design Manuals, and Active Transportation Plans. As yet, implementation strategies and specific targets are not common, with Québec City being the only city in Canada with a specific goal to remake 25% of its streets into Complete Streets. Continue reading for more detail on recent developments.

To find other municipalities being tracked, case studies, research, and other resources, visit TCAT’s Complete Streets for Canada website.
