Metro: Toronto officials lay down the law on new sidewalks

On February 16, 2016 Luke Simcoe at Metro wrote about a new proposal by City of Toronto Transportation Services Pedestrian Projects staff to change the policy to allow sidewalks to be added to local roads during construction or re-paving without prior approval from residents or councillors. TCAT Director Nancy Smith Lea was interviewed for the article: “Sidewalks should be considered a basic need for pedestrians. They’re not an optional thing,” she said.
