The Complete Streets Catalogue contains several case studies that reflect the diversity of Complete Streets approaches in the region. This month, we feature Square One Drive, in Mississauga.
Square One Drive is an extension of an existing street that anticipates increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic as the Civic Centre grows. The expansion of the Sheridan College campus provided an opportunity a Complete Streets approach to enhance the public realm, increase safety and build capacity for all modes of travel.
The redesigned street includes a “flush street” approach, where curb-less edges improve accessibility and mobility for cyclists. A single lane roundabout ensures improved safety by reducing speeds along the street.
