Toronto’s Complete Streets Guidelines at Planning Review Panel

On April 2, 2016 TCAT Director Nancy Smith Lea was invited to participate in a panel discussion at the City of Toronto’s Planning Review Panel, comprised of a cross section of Toronto residents tasked with providing input on city planning projects over a two year time period. The morning session of the panel’s most recent meeting focused on Toronto’s upcoming Complete Streets Guidelines, and included a detailed presentation of the guidelines by Adam Popper, the City’s Complete Streets Project Manager. Nancy spoke to the importance of Complete Streets for pedestrians and cyclists and joined Brian Moore, currently working on the implementation of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, to provide stakeholder commentary on the proposed guidelines. Urban Toronto attended the meeting, and provided an overview of the panel’s work.
