During Toronto’s 2014 municipal election campaign, TCAT in partnership with Toronto Environmental Alliance, Cycle Toronto, Walk Toronto and Canada Walks, invited all candidates for council and mayor to respond to a twelve-question survey about active transportation and transit. Before election day, TCAT was pleased to find overwhelming support amongst candidates who responded to the survey.
With the votes cast and results counted, we found that 61% (27 out of 44) of the elected councillors responded to TCAT’s survey. Of those, very strong support (93%) was expressed for the walking and cycling priorities identified in our election backgrounder: Building a Toronto that Moves!
TCAT looks forward to working with Toronto’s new City Council to advance active transportation and Complete Streets throughout the next term.
