Programming has begun at both or our Scarborough Cycles bicycle hubs located at Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre and AccessPoint on Danforth.
In partnership with Cycle Toronto, several ‘Safe Cycling 101’ workshops were offered at both hubs in late April/early May. These workshops cover basic safety rules, are tailored to highlight the opportunities and challenges of cycling in Scarborough. Last week, project partner CultureLink Settlement and Community Services offered ‘Bike Host Mentor’ orientation sessions at both hubs, and has started participant recruitment for this innovative program. This is the first time this award-winning program has been offered in Scarborough. Learn more about Bike Host and upcoming mentor/mentee orientation dates here.
Scarborough Cycles is also working in partnership with the Toronto Cycling Think & Do Tank at the University of Toronto to understand and improve transportation options for residents. We are looking for Scarborough residents to complete the survey by May 31st. Take the Scarborough Travel Survey.
Our hub at AccessPoint on Danforth will be hosting a launch event open to the public on Saturday June 18, from 12pm-2:30pm. The event will include several family friendly bicycle activities.
