Metro Talks: Five Experts on Toronto’s new Road Safety Plan

Last month, Metro News invited five experts, including TCAT Director Nancy Smith Lea, to its studio to discuss Toronto’s new accelerated road safety plan. While the group was largely in agreement, the discussion became heated about a couple of contentious issues, such as how large of a role enforcement should play, and the effectiveness of campaigns targeting pedestrians and cyclists. All agreed that the plan is a step in the right direction but needs to go farther to embrace a new paradigm of designing roads that slow speed and save lives.
