Council Moves Forward on Sideguards

Following the tragic death of Jenna Morrison, and 13 years after the same recommendation was made by the Regional Coroner of Toronto, last week Toronto City Council passed a motion on sideguards for trucks. A 39-3 Council vote approved measures to look into truck safety measures such as safeguards and a warning system, support for a federal bill for mandatory side guards across the country, and investigating attaching side guards to all City vehicles. A grassroots cross-Canada coalition called "SafeTrucks.ca" has formed on this issue and is assembling up-to-date research and support. Read more and sign the petition here.
