TCAT Events
The Toronto Centre for Active Transportation regularly organizes and participates in events designed to bring multiple stakeholders together to meet and learn about new developments in the field of active transportation.
- Nancy Smith Lea was invited to speak at the Cycle and Sole rally at Queen's Park on May 11th at 2 p.m.
- Nancy Smith Lea was invited to present to the "Transportation and Urban Form" graduate class in the Department of Geography and Planning, University of Toronto on April 3, 2013 @ 10:00 a.m.
- Ryan Whitney was invited by Ecology Ottawa and the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa's Bike Co-op to give a keynote speech at the "Complete Streets for Ottawa" event at the University of Ottawa on March 26, 2013, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
- Ryan Whitney spoke on an Active Transport/Complete Streets panel at the Ryerson School of Urban and Regional Planning Expo on March 23, 2013, 4:30-6:00 p.m.

- Keagan Gartz presented "Complete Streets in Canada: A Growing and Connected Movement" at the ACT Canada Sustainable Mobility Summit 2012 in Hamilton, November 6, 2012, 10:30 a.m to noon.
- Sam Schachar, TCAT's Complete Streets Researcher and Metcalf Foundation Sustainability Intern, presented a webinar titled "Complete Streets in Southern Ontario: Case Studies", October 31, 2012 at 2 p.m.
- Nancy Smith Lea was invited to present at the Metrolinx Planning Leaders Forum, October 18, 2012, 9:30 a.m. to noon.
- Nancy Smith Lea was invited to present at the Annex Resident Association meeting, October 2, 2012, 7-9 p.m.
- Ryan Whitney presented "Complete Streets in Ontario and Canada: An Inclusive Model for all Road Users" in a breakout session at Walk21 in Mexico City, October 2, 2012.

- Nancy Smith Lea was invited to participate in a MOVE: Innovation Talks panel at Evergreen Brick Works - BMO Atrium, September 11, 2012, 7-9 p.m.
- Ryan Whitney provided a presentation on TCAT's Complete Streets for Canada program at The Hub in Ottawa on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 12-1 p.m. as part of The Hub's bi-weekly Brown Bag Lunch speaker series ($8 drop-in fee for non-members; Location: The Hub, 71 Bank Street 6th Floor, Workshop Room - free coffee, bring your own lunch).
- Ryan Whitney presented "Complete Streets in Ontario and Beyond: Context, Centralization, and Barriers to Implementation in the Canadian Context" at Velo-City Global 2012 in Vancouver, June 29, 2012.
- Ryan Whitney delivered a presentation about the results of TCAT's Gap Analysis report to the Clean Air Council at their meeting on the topic of "Active Transportation, Land Use and Public Health", June 15, 2012
- Ryan Whitney and Norma Moores delivered a Complete Streets workshop in Peterborough to present the results of TCAT's Gap Analysis report and provide technical assistance, June 11, 2012.
- TCAT was invited by Associated Engineering to present a Lunch and Learn about engaging the private sector in Complete Streets, June 6, 2012.
- Keagan Gartz participated in a workshop designed to gather feedback on York Region's New Community Guidelines. The meeting took place in Markham, May 29, 2012.
- Ryan Whitney and Norma Moores from IBI Group conducted a Complete Streets Subury workshop on Tuesday, May 15, 6-7:45 p.m. at the Parkside Older Adult Centre in Sudbury. This free workshop provided background on current research along with steps that community members can take to help encourage the adoption of a Complete Streets approach.

- Nancy Smith Lea, Elana Horowitz and Chris Hardwicke launched TCAT's Complete Streets by Design resource at an on-line seminar at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. March 29, 2012.
- TCAT Steering Committee members Neluka Leanage and Michelle St-Amour were guest lecturers on the topic "Advocating for Active Urban Mobility" at York University Urban Geography undergraduate course. February 28, 2012.
- Nancy Smith Lea was invited to speak on the "Broad Inspiration" panel at the Toronto Cyclists Union Strategic Planning Summit. January 21, 2012.
- Yonge Street Speaker lecture Feet + Wheels. Nancy Smith Lea and Chris Hardwicke were invited to speak on a panel about how to create streets that work for everyone. January 19, 2012.
- Port Lands Acceleration Initiative Stakeholder Advisory Committee and the Queen's Quay Construction Liaison Committee. TCAT was invited to participate in these multi-stakeholder six-month forums. Thomas Smahel, TCAT Steering Committee member, joined both Committees as TCAT's representative. January, 2012.
- Cancer Care Ontario. Nancy Smith Lea was invited to give a webinar presentation titled "Media Advocacy and Active Transportation". December 12, 2011.
- Centre for City Ecology's MobiliT.O.: Getting to the Core. Nancy Smith Lea was invited to participate in this day-long design workshop on mobility solutions for multiple modes of transportation in the downtown core. November 19, 2011.
- Evergreen's MOVE Transportation Charrette. TCAT was invited to participate as an advisor. Ryan Whitney gave a presentation titled "Complete Streets in Ontario and Beyond". November 11, 2011.
- University of Toronto Cities Centre Toronto Talks Mobility Symposium. TCAT participated in the Conversation Café portion of the program. November 10, 2011.
- TCAT was invited to participate in the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA) monthly Urban Affairs Forum. Steering Committee member Elana Horowitz spoke on a panel with the theme "Politics and Design: Where is the Design Advocacy?" November 2, 2011.
- Walk21 in Vancouver. Nancy Smith Lea presented a paper titled Benchmarking Active Transportation in Canadian Cities: Report Highlights. October 4, 2011.
