New Video Highlights NYC’s Success Improving Their Streets and Public Spaces

New York City has received a lot of press for how quickly it implemented new transportation policies. Last year, Toronto heard about their cycling improvements when Joshua Benson from NYDOT spoke at TCAT’s Bike Summit. In a new video released by EMBARQ (The WRI Centre for Sustainable Transport), Mayor Bloomberg, Jannette Sadik-Khan, Commissioner of NYDOT, and others explain how streets play a lead role in their mission to make New York City the “greatest, greenest big city in the world.”

At just over 5 minutes, this short video discusses how the city decided to shift from a car culture to a culture that is focused on people and how they’re doing it. Mayor Bloomberg explains how these changes improve business, health and the environment and make the city more liveable for everyone.
