In August 2008, the City of Toronto initiated a Class Environmental Assessment Study for a pedestrian and cycle route/bridge over the railway corridors north of Fort York. This bridge is intended to provide a key link between Stanley Park to the north and the western area of the Fort York grounds to the south, improving connections to the waterfront.
This study has now been completed and is available for review at the Waterfront Secretariat, City Hall, 12th Floor or by sending an email to Stephen McKenna. Final comments must be received by February 8, 2010.
Stephen Otto, a founder of the Friends of Fort York and the 2009 Heritage Toronto Special Achievement Award Recipient, tells us that a call for design proposals will happen soon, which augurs well for construction in 2011!
