Toronto is scheduled to start its bike share program, BIXI Toronto, in May 2011. In order for it to happen, though, City Council is requiring that the program get 1000 subscriptions by November 30, 2010. Public bike share programs exist in major cities around the world, including Paris and Montreal. They provide residents safe, inexpensive hassle-free access to bikes. Great for new and experienced cyclists, alike, public bike share programs are a great way to promote cycling.
